Information about upcoming changes to the NHS Lincolnshire Wheelchair Service

As a service user of the NHS Lincolnshire Wheelchair Service, we would like to inform you that from 01 April 2024, AJM Healthcare will no longer be supplying your wheelchair services. Instead, the new provider of your care will be NRS Healthcare Ltd, a provider of wheelchair services. You can find out more about NRS via their website,  https://www.nrshealthcare.com

We would like to reassure you that there will be no change or disruption to the service you currently have, you will continue to receive wheelchair services in the same way you do now. You do not have to do anything; your personal details and care record will be safely and securely moved over electronically to NRS Healthcare. Once transferred, only staff at NRS who are involved in your care will be able to view your details. This is to make sure you can continue to receive care without any delays. 

If you do not want your details moved over to NRS Healthcare, then please let us know within 14 days of receiving this email. We will be happy to carry out your wishes. However, it may be helpful to contact us on 0808 169 9677 to discuss this with us so we can talk through and reassure you of any concerns you may have and the implications of not transferring over.

If you choose not to transfer to NRS Healthcare, this will mean you will no longer be part of the wheelchair service from 01 April 2024. You will have to find an alternative repair service for your equipment. If you need any care from the wheelchair service in the future, you will have to contact the new provider NRS Healthcare and self-refer back in.

If you have received this email in error and are no longer a service user of AJM Healthcare wheelchair services, then please accept our sincere apologies. We ask that you contact the team on 0808 169 9677 to let us know so we can change our database.

Why are these changes taking place?
NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) has joined up with Lincolnshire County Council to commission a joint service for Lincolnshire. Both organisations have a responsibility to ensure the services they commission deliver both good quality and value for money for the citizens of Lincolnshire. They have completed a procurement exercise and as a result a new contract for wheelchair services for General Practices throughout Lincolnshire has been awarded to NRS Healthcare Ltd. How will this change affect me?
There will be no change to the service you receive. From 01 April 2024 you will continue to receive wheelchair services in the same way you do now. If you have an appointment booked in the next few weeks, then rest assured this will still go ahead as planned and you do not have to do anything. If, however, you have an appointment booked after 01 April 2024 then NRS Healthcare will be in touch with you to confirm your appointment date, where your appointment will take place and if there are any changes.

Do I have an option to stay with AJM Healthcare?
Unfortunately, no because services will no longer be available with AJM Healthcare.

What do I have to do?
You do not have to do anything. If you agree, your personal details and care record will automatically transfer over to NRS Healthcare. From 01 April 2024 you will continue to receive care from NRS Healthcare, you do not have to go to your doctor for a referral to the new service.

If you do not want to move over to NRS Healthcare, then please let us know within 14 days of receiving this letter. You can contact AJM on 0808 169 9677. 

What if something is wrong with my wheelchair?
Please do not worry. You will continue to receive services from AJM Healthcare up to 31 March 2024 and then your care will transfer over to NRS Health care from 01 April 2024.

If you have any urgent wheelchair repairs or adjustments, then please contact:
